Manchester is one of the UK's most active bubble tea markets — a food scene anchored by four universities, one of Britain's largest Chinatown districts, and an independent café culture that runs from the Northern Quarter through Deansgate to the Oxford Road corridor. If you operate a bubble tea kiosk, dessert café, or hospitality outlet anywhere in Greater Manchester, you need a wholesale supplier who understands the volume, the trends, and the speed Manchester customers expect.
Boba Tea Company is a UK-based wholesale supplier of bubble tea ingredients, packaging, and equipment. We hold a working stock of 425+ SKUs in our UK warehouse and currently supply more than 100 active B2B café and dessert outlets across Greater Manchester with regular DPD next-day deliveries.
This page covers what we supply, how we deliver to Manchester, how to open a trade account, and the questions Manchester operators ask us most often before they switch suppliers.
Why Manchester is a key bubble tea market
Manchester's bubble tea demand is structurally strong, not seasonal:
- Student population: The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan, RNCM, and Salford University together draw more than 100,000 students into the city centre — a demographic that drives high per-capita bubble tea consumption.
- Chinatown corridor: Manchester Chinatown is the second-largest in the UK after London. The cluster of authentic Asian dessert cafés and tea houses around Faulkner Street, Princess Street and Portland Street keeps the category mainstream rather than a passing trend.
- Independent café density: The Northern Quarter alone holds dozens of independent cafés that mix bubble tea into a wider speciality drinks menu. Deansgate and Spinningfields cover the corporate lunch crowd. Manchester Arndale and the Oxford Road retail strip serve high-footfall foot traffic.
- Year-round demand: Manchester's climate doesn't kill bubble tea demand in winter (hot milk tea + brown sugar boba performs strongly November to February), which means stock turn is predictable across all 12 months.
For a wholesale supplier, that means Manchester cafés tend to be high-volume, repeat-order customers rather than seasonal one-off buyers.
What we supply for Manchester bubble tea operators
Our 425-SKU UK catalogue is built around the four core categories every bubble tea outlet needs:
Tapioca pearls and toppings

Black tapioca pearls, mini pearls, brown sugar pre-cooked pearls, popping boba in mango / strawberry / lychee / passionfruit / blueberry, coconut jelly, grass jelly, aloe vera cubes, and red bean. Cooked-fresh and ready-to-use formats both stocked. Browse pearls and toppings.
Syrups, powders and matcha

Brown sugar syrup (the volume seller), mango / strawberry / passionfruit / peach / lychee fruit syrups, taro powder, matcha powder, milk tea powders, and frappé bases. Our matcha range is China-sourced ceremonial and premium grade — clean colour, no chalkiness, performs as well in iced milk drinks as in hot lattes. Browse syrups and powders.
Cups, lids, sealing film and straws

PP and PET cups in 360ml / 500ml / 700ml standards, plus U-shape, chubby, diamond, hard premium and skinny formats. Sealing film in plain and printed designs. Where our Manchester customers cluster
Most of our active Manchester B2B accounts are concentrated in three corridors:
- South Manchester student belt — M14 Fallowfield/Rusholme is our single highest-density Manchester district, with M13 (Universities) feeding into it. Together these reflect the bubble tea demand pull from 100,000+ students within walking distance.
- East Manchester suburb chain — M43 Droylsden, M11 Clayton/Openshaw, and the Oldham postcodes (OL1–OL16) form a steady commuter-belt cluster. Higher residential density, lower rent than the city centre, and good footfall from local high streets.
- South Manchester and Trafford — M23 Wythenshawe, M33 Sale, M17 Trafford Park / Old Trafford, and M21 Chorlton. Mix of suburban dessert cafés and Trafford Centre retail.

Why Manchester cafés choose Boba Tea Company
We're not the only wholesale supplier of bubble tea ingredients in the UK. Here is what makes operators in Manchester switch to us, drawn from the questions we're asked most often before a trade account is approved:
425+ SKUs held in UK stock
You don't wait 6–8 weeks for a container from Taiwan. We hold genuine UK stock of every core SKU, refreshed continuously. When your supplier in Manchester runs out of black tapioca on a Friday, your customers don't care that the cause is a freight delay overseas — they care that you ran out. UK warehouse means we can replace stock inside 48 hours rather than 8 weeks.
Real product expertise
Our team works with Manchester operators every week. We know which sealer films work with which 90mm / 95mm machines. We know which syrup brands separate after 3 weeks. We know what your menu mix probably looks like if you tell us "200 cups a day" and we can read it back to you. If you're newly opened or refreshing your menu, 10 Best-Selling Bubble Tea Recipes for UK Cafés is the menu starting-point most of our Manchester customers reference.
Trade-only pricing, not retail-disguised-as-wholesale
Our trade pricing is genuine volume pricing — not Shopify retail with a "10% discount" badge. Approved trade accounts get standard rates plus volume tiers. Apply for a trade account.
Custom printed cups, printed in the UK
If you want your café's branding on every drink leaving the counter, we print custom cups in the UK with low minimums (from 10 cartons) and 10-day lead times. Reorders ship as quickly as next working day once your artwork is on file. See custom cup printing.
Profitability — what Manchester cafés typically see

Bubble tea is one of the higher-margin categories on a café menu, but only if your ingredient cost, packaging cost, and pricing are all sized correctly. A typical UK bubble tea drink selling at £4.95 carries an ingredient + packaging cost of £0.80–£1.20 if you're sourcing well. Add labour and overhead and a well-run Manchester café typically lands in the 65–75% gross margin range on bubble tea drinks alone.
We've covered the full P&L maths — revenue assumptions, ingredient cost, packaging, labour, rent, and what a sustainable bubble tea operation actually looks like — in Bubble Tea Profit Margins UK 2026. Manchester operators who use that breakdown as a sanity check before opening tend to size their menu pricing more confidently.
How to open a trade account
Two steps:
- Submit your trade application at bobateacompany.co.uk/pages/wholesale-trade-account — takes about 5 minutes. We ask for your business name, address, VAT number (if registered), and a brief description of what you operate.
- We review and reply within 1 working day. Once approved, you get trade pricing applied across your account, a dedicated point of contact, and your first quote within 24 hours.
If you'd rather talk before applying, email sales@bobateacompany.co.uk or use the contact form at bobateacompany.co.uk/pages/contact — we'll route your enquiry to the right person for Manchester accounts.
Frequently asked questions
How long does delivery to Manchester take?
Standard lead time to M postcodes is 24 hours via DPD next-day, provided your order is placed before 2pm UK time. Greater Manchester surrounding postcodes (Bolton, Oldham, Stockport, Warrington, Wigan) take 24–48 hours. Saturday delivery is available on request.
What's the minimum order for a trade account?
There's no minimum order quantity for approved trade accounts. You can re-order whatever you actually need, when you need it. Volume pricing applies above standard thresholds — your trade account confirmation explains the tiers.
Do you supply both PP and PET cups?
Yes. We hold 360ml, 500ml and 700ml in both PP and PET, plus U-shape, chubby, diamond, hard premium, and skinny formats. We do not currently stock Bagasse (sugarcane fibre) cups — our cup range is PP and PET only.
Can I get custom printed cups for my Manchester café?
Yes — custom cup printing is one of our core services. UK-based printing, minimum order from 10 cartons, lead time from 10 days, reorders as fast as next working day. See Custom Printed Bubble Tea Cups for the full process.
Are your tapioca pearls VAT-rated?
Food-grade tapioca pearls are zero-rated for VAT under UK HMRC rules. Many other ingredients (syrups, powders, jellies) are also zero-rated. Packaging, equipment, and consumables are standard-rated at 20%. We apply the correct VAT rate per product line, not a flat rate across the order.
What's the shelf life of your syrups and pearls?
Pre-cooked tapioca pearls typically have 12-month shelf life if stored sealed in cool dry conditions. Brown sugar syrup and fruit syrups typically 18–24 months unopened. Once opened, refrigerate and use within the period printed on the individual product. Specific shelf life is on each product page and on the product carton.
How do I know which sealer film works with my machine?
We stock 90mm, 95mm and 98mm sealer films covering the main UK sealer machine formats. If you tell us your machine model on your trade application, we'll confirm compatibility before your first order. If you're buying a sealer too, we'll match the film format to the machine at quote stage.
Do you supply to bubble tea kiosks or only full cafés?
Both. We supply standalone kiosks, in-line outlets inside food courts and shopping centres, dessert cafés that include bubble tea on their menu, university campus retailers, and high-street café chains. Volume per outlet varies — your trade pricing tier is set on your account total, not on individual outlet size.
